SCS Mystery Image Swap - February 2016 Two Paper Divas & Reverse Confetti "Hello Good Friends"

With the other half away, I took advantage and spread out all my supplies to get some play time in.  How wonderful this is going to be that I don't have to clean up my table surface or piles for another month!

Here's my February submission for my group of a dozen other ladies from SCS.  This month, Tracie (taclary) sent us this cheerful watering can image full of flowers from Two Paper Divas.

Tracie states "this image is in honor of the friendships that I have made through SCS.  I am lucky to have each and every one of you as a friend. So February's challenge is in honor of the friendships that we have made through SCS."

I can't wait for her to see what I came up with and I hope that Dea, who's the next in our rotating recipient list, will like my card in person!

I really wanted to play with my copics since I never was an expert coloring gal.  There are lots of mistakes here and I managed to salvage it by using the pebbled dot texturizing technique on my watering can.  I have no idea if that's what the technique is called, but from looking at my coloring, I think you get the idea.

Since I decided to use the image without the perfectly stamped coordinating sentiment Tracie provided, I added some die cuts from Reverse Confetti to add to the Spring Friendship theme.

One last thing, I'm dying because my card suffered an accident at the very last minute when I was stamping an alternative friendship themed sentiment on the inside of my card.  The front of the cover made contact with my just reinker refreshed ink pad that was sitting right next to it!   Grr...I'm working on a desk that's about 3 feet wide and about 1.5 feet deep. I'm practically working on top of myself.  I need to clean up after myself much better to avoid this.  Unfortunately, adding color dots or sequins to mask my oopsie just crowds this card design so I've decided to just leave it as is.

I still think this card came out pretty cute!  Just for fun, I entered this card in the CASology challenge for their Week 185:Egg.

CASEing SCS's Featured Stamper for 5-31-15

Thought I'd play along with this week's Featured Stamper over at SCS as well which is to CASE any card design in the gallery of user Veritycards.

My goodness, her work is just exquisite and lush. I don't have a lot of the delicate Spellbinder dies that she has, as most of my dies are of basic shapes for stamped images or sentiments.

In any case, I chose this Fuscia card of her's to CASE for the FS434 Challenge since I had this pre-stamped panel, using various SU markers, leftover from a decade ago lying around.  I merely matted it on some Taken with Teal scraps and propped it on two different die cut panels I had been playing around with a couple of weeks ago.

I was a bit frustrated with the difficulty that the Die Cuts With a View brand of glitter card stock posed with intricate die cutting. It was nearly impossible to pop out all the little pieces even after running it through several times in my Big Shot. I had hoped to have used this die by exposing it more, but thought to finally use it so I could move on to a brand new concept at a later time.

Like VerityCard, I left mine blank without a sentiment as well.  Honestly, I'm a bit at a loss of how to use this Reverse Confetti Mosaic Background die even though I love it so.

"Hello" #RadiantPearls #Shimmering #Poppies

I've noticed the watercolor flower trend since my return from my crafting hiatus and have been dying to give it try, except I didn't want to rush out and buy lots of new supplies like I would have back in the day.

I wasn't too thrilled with my background watercoloring attempts last weekend with my Canson watercolor paints because the colors weren't as bright as the current watercolor paint dujour Gansai's appear to be in the many samples & videos I've come across.

Thus my motivation to dig out my Radiant Pearl pots, an old favorite of mine from over a decade ago.  And the RP's do not disappoint in color vividness!

When funds become available, I'm sure I'll grab some Gansai's at some point, but until then, nothing wrong with using what I've got to learn/perfect a technique which apparently I've done lots of in the past once I got going with my Radiant Pearl's!

Seriously so sad I can't buy anymore as I recently discovered that these were discontinued and no longer on the market after being acquired by Luminart, so I'm torn between going to town and yet being mindful to use my paints sparingly.

Unfortunately, the gorgeous shimmering effects didn't photograph well in the above picture, so here's a another shot at it from the side which hopefully shows it off a bit better.  Sorry, my lighting is off on this shot.

I applied paint sparingly directly onto the red rubber stamp since a little goes a long way and it stays wet for some time. Then once all the colors were applied, I then took a hold of the stamp and impressed it onto my Neena Solar White 110 lb weight cardstock.

It was like running into an old beloved friend...hello Radiant Pearls!

CHALLENGES SUBMITTED:

• SCS' CAS362 to use Wildflowers for 5/25/15.  Hmm, I'm not sure what kind of flowers these are, but the dandelion like leaves of these tall stems scream poppies to me, so a type of wildflower? (I'm guessing this is a Hero Arts stamp because I only have the unmounted rubber stamp due to my very early attempts to ditch all my wood mounted stamps.)

• Muse Challenge #119 based on this card inspiration.  I'm a sucker for gold foil dotty designs.  I went with gold dotty washi tape for mine.
