Here's what I created this month as they are sitting right next to me here at work. They're so bright and cheerful, so its really helping me get through the first day back at work after the holiday break.
This "Sweet Thang" card is what I tackled first. I wanted to challenge myself to use the coordinating sheet of journalling cards, and this is what I managed to come up by layering the smaller green piece with the light blue edges on top of the hot pink one with the white space. The green peice fit perfectly so that it now has white eyelet scalloped borders. I dressed up the cherry on my cupcake and the hearts in the middle of my circles with some chunky red glitter. And to finish the card off, I decided to go for a banner like greeting.
For my "Lub You" card, I was now really getting my mojo going by working with those prefab journalling cards, so I handcut the large orange rimmed decorative shaped label. I decided that I wanted a pretty pleated flower and glued a swirly round medallion piece on top of it. I finished it off with some more chunky red glitter on the edges along with my precious Lil' Davis wide orange creamsicle ribbon that's now discontinued. I think the ribbon is perfect for the colors of this "Sweet Cakes" paper line, don't you think?
My next project, "My Honey Pie" Cupcake, was inspired by a project designed by Leah Fung over at the Scrapbook Etc's site. Here are the step by step directions to make this adorable freestanding cupcake. When I saw this line of paper, I just knew that I wanted to make myself a cupcake too!! In my version, I used round styrofoam balls and fuscia crepe paper instead of ribbon for the paper edges. I also repurposed a cocktail decorative spear so that its now serving as a bumble bee toting "my honey pie" cupcake flag. I combined a few of those elements from various journalling tags to create my little cupcake flaggy sign there. :)
Finally, I've been dying to try this quarter folded circle type card shape forever which is why I ordered this (also from Pink Paislee) "Office Lingo" line scalloped circle ledger paper from Embellish-Online as well. I love how well this "older line" goes so well with the newly released "Sweet Cakes" line. In fact, I even used a decorative edged scrap from another piece of the Office Lingo on this last card, "Sweet."
Embellish-Online has a Deal of the Day SALE going on right now, so check out our blog for the different daily specials!!
That's it girlies!! I promise, no more bloggie updates from me today. I know the last few days, I feel like I've been glued to the computer due to all the blogging catchup I was doing. I'm going to finish up some work and head out to see "Rachel Getting Married" in Pasadena along with some Thai food, hopefully. In fact, the rest of this week, I'll be viewing back to back movies since its Awards season now.
