You must have your project link on our blog no later than January 27th to be eligible to win on January 29, 2009.****Good Luck Ladies!!****
Here's my card that I created for the challenge using the fabulous "Old Fashioned Flowers" paper line from Kimberly Poloson (Fiskars) that I received in my Scrap 'N Yap DT kit. These papers are also available online at My Scrapbook Nook if you are not local to me.
And here is a detailed shot so you can see that I actually did use some Cuttlebug folders, LOL! since that is the POINT of the challenge. I used the branch border from the Just My Type folder set to emboss the bottom of my brown card base and I used the Scripture Text folder to emboss my Heidi Swapp ghost flowers. I painted the flowers with various acrylic paints to bring out more of the dimension of the texture that hopefully you can see here in the close up. You can also leave the ghost shapes clear, as they're really pretty. But for this one, I wanted to paint mine.
I created my card foundation by finally pulling out my new SU Top Note die. I cut it in the grey flocked paper first, and then trimmed along the dotted lines around the edges so that I could pop it on top of the slate brown panel, that's also cut from the same die, in order to create a perfect mat.
Then, I hand cut a larger flower and a small flower from the Kimberly Polson line and then arranged the smaller flowers along with coordinating colors of Prima flowers.
Next, I selected a few Heidi Swapp ghost butterflies and ran them through my machine to give them some texture. Since the colors of this card were so dark and muted, I decided I wanted to paint my butterflies. I found that finger painting (I needed a new manicure anyway!) was the most effective.
I finished it off by adding various bling in the middle of the flowers, and pop dotted the entire top note panel onto the same patterned paper. I did tuck in the larger flower I hand cut in the top left corner, and added some leaf springs on the right side. I had some ribbon scraps, so that's how the sheer dotted ribbon and the sage lace trim got in there. Thankfully, they were perfect for the papers I was using.
Now, before I could lay this entire larger panel on top of my brown cardstock, I needed to add a bit more interest so I decided to use one of my embossing borders. I thought that the branch worked the best so I added it to the bottom of my card.
Voila!! Not a bad night's work while watching the Obama Pre-Inauguration festivities on TV. I'm pretty happy with the way this card came out!
I want to publically thank my new friend Meda, who made me my very own personalized watermark. Meda, I have no idea how to make one, and if I even tried, it would take me HOURS to figure out because my brain is literally fried with the software stuff I'm already tackling, so THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU my friend. I'm so very appreciative!! As you can see Meda, I finally figured out how to apply the watermark image to my projects. :) Don't ask how long that took me! lol ~~ Meda is on the Design Team with me at Cuttlebug. Please go and check out her own beautiful creations on her blog. :)

p.s. It took me about 2 hours to figure out how to apply a watermark so I'm soooo glad I'm not the only one:)
Wow, Ching! That is such a beautiful card! I admired it even since I was editing the blog post at the cuttlebug challenge blog. I Flowers and butterflies are among my favorites. That and the color palette you chose, completed with the elegant look is a perfect match to my tastes in cards.
I am sooooo happy you enjoy my watermark. It actually didn't take more that 10 minutes to make so you can have a new one whenever you get bored of this.
Great Texture, lovely colours too :)
